Funding / Grant Opportunities
RDA Pilbara is committed to maximising external investment into Pilbara region projects and initiatives.
In addition to assisting residents and organisations within the region to identify suitable sources of funding for local projects and initiatives RDA Pilbara will provide free, practical assistance with grant and funding applications.
Regional Growth Fund
On 2 March 2018 the Hon Dr John McVeigh MP, Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government, announced the opening for Initial Applications to the $272.2 million Regional Growth Fund.
The Regional Growth Fund will provide grants of $10 million or more for major transformational projects which support long-term economic growth and create jobs in regions undergoing structural adjustment.
Selection of projects will be undertaken in two stages. Stage One requires submission of an Initial Application for competitive assessment. Stage Two is for the submission of a Full Business Case. Only successful applications to the Initial Application will be invited to submit a Full Business Case.

Building Better Regions Fund
The programme supports the Australian Government’s commitment to create jobs, drive economic growth and build stronger regional communities into the future. It will fund projects in regional Australia outside the major capital cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Canberra. There are two streams of funding available under the programme:
The Community Investments Stream funds the following community activities, new or expanded local events, strategic regional plans, and leadership and capability strengthening activities These projects will deliver economic and social benefits to regional and remote communities. Infrastructure activities are not eligible for the Community Investments Stream.
The Infrastructure Projects Stream supports projects which involve the construction of new infrastructure, or the upgrade or extension of existing infrastructure that provide economic and social benefits to regional and remote areas.
Other Grant Opportunities
The Australian Government has established a number of programmes which are funded under the Infrastructure Investment Programme as well as the Grants Programmes for regions to support needed infrastructure that promotes stable, secure and viable local and regional economies.
