Expressions of Interest for West Pilbara Communities for Children Committee Members

Are you a resident of The City of Karratha or The Shire of Ashburton? Would you like to be involved in where $5 million is spent within the West Pilbara community?

Regional Development Australia (RDA) Pilbara is seeking regional community representatives with vision and drive to join the West Pilbara Communities for Children (WPCFC) Committee.

RDA Pilbara is a facilitating partner for the WPCFC Initiative, which is funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services (DSS). The initiative is a sub activity delivered under the Families and Children Activity, which is part of the Families and Communities Program. It aims to deliver positive and sustainable outcomes for children up to 12 years and their families in disadvantaged communities throughout Australia.

WPCFC fund other organisations (known as Community Partners) to provide services targeted to their community as identified by the local committee. These services include parenting support, group peer support, case management, home visiting, community events and life skills courses. Activities that support children and families affected by domestic and family violence may also be supported.

RDA Pilbara works closely with not-for-profit organisations in the City of Karratha and the Shire of Ashburton to deliver these services. The City of Karratha includes Karratha and the towns of Dampier, Wickham, Roebourne, Point Samson, and the surrounding communities. The Shire of Ashburton includes the towns of Onslow, Pannawonica, Paraburdoo, Tom Price, and the surrounding communities.
